A Chinese legend, The Butterfly Lovers is the story of a pair of lovers, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. In this Eastern Romeo and Juliet style tale, the pair falls in love but is unable to be together. Liang dies heartbroken, and Zhu ultimately throws herself in his grave on her wedding day, and the pair emerge as butterflies.
