The legend of the dryad (or tree nymph) dates back to ancient greek times. Brass with silver plate, about 2" tall. Dryad is a nymph or nature spirit who lives in trees and takes the form of a beautiful young woman. Dryads were originally the spirits of oak trees (drys: “oak”), The revival earrings here are vintage stock from the 1970's - they were designed by the late artist Laurel Burch and crafted by hand.
